Kristine and Carrie's Epic Washington, DC Engagement Session!

As strange as it may seem for me to say this. I will say it anyway. This was our first Same Sex Engagement Session we've ever had the privilege to capture. We've photographed couples for 16 years, from nearly every demographic, except from the LGBT community. Finally, we can proudly and lovingly say that we couldn't have asked for a more amazing couple to have spent the day with. When Kristine and Carrie approached us asking if we would come down to Washington, DC to do this shoot with them, we were sincerely overjoyed.

In fact, words really can't express the emotions my dad and I felt heading down to meet them. Going down to DC we felt energized and so pumped to be there with Kristine and Carrie. We spent about 4-5 hours talking wedding plans, about life in DC, careers...etc. We shot at their favorite breakfast bistro, in the park nearby their home, at the capitol, in the streets, by George Washington Monument , Lincoln Memorial, and by the reflecting pool. We even "Ubered" around a bit. By the end of the night, they graciously paid for our taxi ride back (as we nearly ran over a few joggers thanks to our eccentric cabby) Haha.... and presto. When my father and I returned to our hotel room to end the night, my father said, "I miss them already." Honestly, so did I. We both saw not just an amazing couple, but a couple (no matter gay or straight) that loved each other so deeply... that it appeared as though it was meant to be. Written in the stars. They are two halves that make one confident, strong, and passionate family.

On our plane ride home my father and I kept saying to each other "we have to keep in touch. We have to stay in contact with these lovely ladies." And we will I thought. As we sat down in our cramped coach seats on the plane, my father continued "Their wedding can't come fast enough." I nodded in agreement.

To you Kristine and Carrie, THANK YOU for being our "First". I know it may sound tacky and a little strange. But we mean it with all heart and sincerity. But let me clarify,  you were not "just" our first same sex couple engagement session. You were our first couple (out of hundreds we've capture before) whom we knew and could feel that this connection you, Kristine and Carrie have is something all other couples wish they had. The love you have for each other is so powerful, we could feel and see it pouring out into the streets! You've taught us what LOVE really is. Hold on to that Love, never let it go, and never give-up on each other, because what you have is what more of this world needs. We thank you, and we love you!
